Weddings in Hawaii can be very expensive, but no matter what your budget, the savvy bride is always searching for value. Hawaiian or beach theme weddings can be both very elegant and cost efficient when done right. No matter where you are, it's easy to bring Hawaii -- or any beach -- to your own back yard.
Decorations and Favors

Typically when one thinks of Hawaii, images of Waikiki, pineapples, fire dancers and hula girls come to mind. However, there is a side of Hawaii that is much calmer and less touristy. Think of the natural beauty of Hawaii -- go to your nearest craft store and purchase some seashells. Place in a glass bowl, fill with water, and float plumeria candles (or plain white ones do just fine) as a centerpiece, or find a wooden bowl, fill with water, and float real dendrobium orchid blossoms to give your tables that delicate rainforest feel. Garnish with loose blossoms on the table tops. Silk flowers are another option -- they will last forever!

Food

You don't have to splurge on roast pig or dig up your yard to create an imu (Hawaiian underground oven). Hawaii-style side dishes like fresh pineapple, luau punch, lomi salmon and haupia (a Hawaiian coconut flavored jello dessert) create an authentic feel without breaking the bank. Here's a hint: if your punch is pink/orange rather than red, it gives it a much more "authentically Hawaiian" look (think guava juice, passion fruit, and orange drink mixed together). Float some loose dendrobium orchids in the punch bowl (don't worry, they're completely edible if you are so inclined) for an even more tropical touch.
Attire

Hawaii is well-known for being laid-back and casual, so why not apply the same attitudes toward your wedding? It's not uncommon for couples getting married on the beach to throw tradition to the wind and dress down. Pick an informal wedding dress and dress your groom in a white aloha shirt with linen pants or khakis. The Hawaiian holoku, a formal Hawaiian gown with a train, is also a gorgeous choice as a wedding dress for those who would like authentic Hawaiian wedding wear. The groom typically wears a long sleeved white aloha shirt, white pants and a sash that matches the dress color of the bride.  Informal wedding dresses are also great choices for the bride to change into after the ceremony (like Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. changed into more casual wear after the ceremony -- Sarah Michelle wore flip flops, and Freddie went barefoot!), as they are cool and comfortable poly/cotton. Our Hawaiian wedding dresses and matching shirts are also great for taking engagement photos!

Getting Ready for your Halloween Soiree

There will be plenty of witches and monsters haunting neighborhoods on October 31. Why not cater to a tamer crowd by hosting a holiday party that truly says have a happy Halloween? Use a black and orange color scheme accented with sweet treats to create a festive setting trick-or-treaters of all ages can enjoy.

Halloween Party Invitations

The invitation gives guest a glimpse of the party theme. Since this Halloween shindig is just a little spooky, not an all-out fright fest, choose a classic symbol – jack o’lanterns, friendly ghosts or animal silhouettes – to decorate the invite. Here is a simple DIY option featuring everyone’s favorite treat.
1.Buy blank cards in black or cut black cardstock to the appropriate size.

2.Print the invitations in an eerie type font using white ink.

3.Attach a border of candy corn using small beads of hot glue.

Halloween Party Food and Drinks

Cupcakes Since it is Halloween, all this party needs is a yummy selection of sweet treats. Cupcakes are an easy favorite. Start with basic vanilla and chocolate cake, and then be creative with colored frostings and candy toppings.
Candy Bar Speaking of candy, fill clear containers with a variety of orange and black treats for an instant candy bar. Licorice, Reese’s Pieces, several jelly bean flavors and, of course, candy corn give a burst of Halloween color.
Drinks After loading up on cupcakes and candy, partygoers will need something to wash all the sweetness down. Serve a cauldron of slimy green punch along with grape and orange flavored sodas in glass bottles. Peel off the labels and these drinks fit right in with the party’s color scheme.

Upcoming Event - The Vibiana LA

The Alpha Phi Sorority of USC, will be presenting "Heart of Gold" for the American Heart Association.  They will be having a charity Auction event at St. Vibiana Los Angeles, which the event is being coordinated from Event Planner, Stacy Walker.

Today, St. Vibiana is one the Grandest Venues in Los Angeles.

The Cathedral of St. Vibiana is the seat of the Los Angeles Archdiocese. It has been closed since May 1995 because of damage sustained during the 1994 Northridge earthquake. Located at 114 E. 2nd Street, surrounded by abandoned buildings and bordering Skid Row, the rundown and neglected cathedral's future is in doubt.

Plans for a cathedral for Los Angeles began as early as 1859. Using land donated to the Church by Amiel Cavalier, architect Ezra Kysor designed the building. The cathedral was dedicated in 1876; four years and $80,000 later St. Vibiana's was completed.
